da winzada777: Liverpool have a long and famous history of giving young players their breakthrough in the game, with such teenagers going on to achieve great things at the club.
da betobet: Just last month we saw Ben Woodburn become the club’s youngest ever goalscorer with a sublime effort against Leeds. That was a goal that had Liverpool fans abuzz they’d found the next great star at Anfield, following the likes of Michael Owen and Robbie Fowler.
Woodburn isn’t the only talented young player at the club though.
The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ovie Ejaria were on the bench against Bournemouth last weekend and seem likely to make the breakthrough into a starting XI in the Premier League soon.
Ejaria in particular appears to have a bright future in the game and has all the attributes to make an impact on the Reds midfield over the coming months.
Here are our FIVE reasons why Ejaria deserves a chance from Klopp to show what he can do in Liverpool’s midfield…
He’s been impressing Klopp for over a year
One of Klopp’s first tasks when he arrived at Liverpool was to check on the progress of his new youngsters in Liverpool’s youth teams.
The German took in a Liverpool U18s game vs Stoke City in October 2015 and would have left impressed by young Ejaria, then just 18, who scored the winner in the match.
After the game Ejaria enthused about what it meant to play in front of his new manager.
As quoted by Liverpool’s website, he said…
“Obviously first impressions are important and it was a great feeling to be able to play in front of him. It’s exciting because he’s new in and everyone is trying to make a first impression on him and trying to get our way up to Melwood. Knowing that he was watching us was a great feeling.”
Klopp has been keeping a keen eye on him ever since and will know the potential he has on his hands.
Wijnaldum isn’t quite getting it done
Liverpool are having a fantastic season and you couldn’t really say many in the team are performing below par.
In the middle of the park, however, it’s Georginio Wijnaldum who looks least comfortable for the Reds. The Dutch international, of course, only joined in the summer and is still finding his feet at Anfield.
If they do have a weak link, he’d be a contender and Ejaria deserves the chance to show that he can out-perform Wijnaldum in his position. Even if for a short period, it could light a fire under Wijnaldum to go on and reach new heights this season.
The fans want to see more of him
Liverpool fans know when it’s time for a player to get a chance and they won’t stop talking about Ejaria. After Woodburn, Ejaria is by far the player with most hype at Anfield. In fact many are tipping him to have the greatest impact on the team of any youngster currently at the club.
His performances in pre-season
Ejaria first burst on to the scene during this season’s summer friendlies. Good performances in England against the likes of Tranmere won him a place on Liverpool’s tour of the USA.
It was in the States that a performance against Chelsea in the International Champions Cup really caught everyone’s attention. He showed he can look the part against top opposition and appeared more than ready for Premier League Football.
He’s a potential England international
Ejaria doesn’t appear to have decided whether to represent Nigeria or England going forward in his international career.
While obviously easier to break into the Nigeria first team, the youngster opted to play for England’s U20s in September, fuelling rumours that he was up for the challenge of making the grade for the Three Lions.
If he does choose England, he would be part of an elite group of players that could only enhance his reputation and abilities. Could Ejaria possibly go on to become a Steven Gerrard?
That’s a long way away but it’s time to find out what the fuss is all about…
