da imperador bet: Crystal Palace should take advantage of the chaos going on at Manchester United and make an audacious loan swoop for 17-year-old Mason Greenwood, who is performing beyond his years in the Red Devils’ academy.
What’s the word, then?
Greenwood’s form this season has been that of a young man who is quite obviously far too good for youth football, but he is yet to make his senior debut due to the mismanagement of Jose Mourinho and all of the chaos that the Portuguese brought to Old Trafford – it is unclear whether new man Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will involve him much either.
The teenager has hit 20 goals and recorded five assists in just 17 games this season across all competitions, and his exquisite form was rewarded with a place on the bench in the Red Devils 2-1 loss to Valencia in the Champions League.
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below...
He recently hit a stunning hat-trick against Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup, displaying a phenomenal reading of the play, pace to burn and unerringly efficient finishing every time he got in sight of the goal – it looks as if he could emulate, or even better, Marcus Rashford’s start to senior football, with the England international also coming through the ranks at Old Trafford.
Why would he go to Palace?
It would be a hugely difficult transfer to pull off given just how highly rated Greenwood is, as well as the fact that there is a new man in charge at United who may not want to lose anyone straight away, but Palace can point to their past loan experiences as an attractive business proposition.
The Eagles took out-of-favour Chelsea star Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan at the start of the 2017/18 season, and helped develop the Englishman’s game massively – he consequently went to the World Cup with England, and is now featuring more under Maurizio Sarri.
Additionally, with the need for a striker at Palace reaching crisis mode, Greenwood would be guaranteed game time at Selhurst Park and could even become first-choice striker for the second half of the season.
