There had always been a lot of excitement around Campbell, but he was yet to make the final step up and cement himself in Wenger’s first team plans. As always, though, with a new season came new opportunities. That was until the 25-year-old, who joined the club six years ago, picked up a devastating six month injury whilst on international duty.
Campbell confirmed to reporters that he would need knee surgery after damaging his ligaments in Costa Rica’s 1-1 draw with Canada.
The news has not gone down well with Arsenal fans who were clearly looking to make a little profit from the sale of Campbell this summer…
