A host of Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on Ross Barkley after the Everton midfielder delayed talks over a new contract, according to the Daily Star.
What’s the word?
Barkley’s relationship with Everton manager Ronald Koeman did not get off to the best start when the Dutchman took charge of the Toffees last summer.
At times, Koeman publicly criticised Barkley’s form and dropped him from starting lineups.
However, the 23-year-old has been a regular feature of late, helping Everton revive their season by going on an eight-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.
With regards to Barkley’s future, the Daily Star reports that he is in no rush to sign fresh terms, despite his current contract due to expire at the end of next season.

The publication claims that Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City are all keeping an eye on the situation, while clubs in Europe are also believed to be open to a potential swoop.
What’s the best option for Barkley?
The midfielder has had to deal with criticism from his manager and the fans this season.
As a local boy, expectations are high and he can sometimes be the scapegoat when things are not running smoothly for Everton on the pitch.
At the moment, the Toffees are in a strong run of form and are the closest challengers to the top six, currently sitting seven points behind Manchester United.
Due to his loyalty to Everton, it is highly likely that Barkley will want to stay part of the team if the club continue to improve and fight for a spot in Europe.
However, if clubs of a higher calibre than the Toffees come calling, he would not be blamed for considering his options.
Barkley drew comparisons to Paul Gascoigne when he broke onto the scene a few years ago, but he has struggled to live up to the hype that surrounded him.
The problem that the midfielder faces is that he could end up becoming a fringe player if he opts to join a bigger club filled with world-class talent.
