da dobrowin: According to FootballFanCast sources, Barcelona have joined Real Madrid in the race to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
da betsul: Since moving to Old Trafford in 2011, the Spain international has established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in world football.
A move to the Bernabeu famously collapsed in summer 2015 but Los Blancos are believed to still hold a long-term interest in the 26-year-old, despite facing a twelve-month transfer embargo handed out by FIFA.
However, sources have informed Football FanCast of Barcelona’s interest in the world-class shot-stopper, suggesting a transfer battle between the El Clasico giants could take place across the next few transfer windows.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen is now the undisputed No.1 at the Nou Camp following Claudio Bravo’s switch to Manchester City in August, but opinions at Barcelona have changed and some members of the club’s hierarchy now believe they let the wrong man go during the summer.
The German is still developing into a top goalkeeper but De Gea has already established such status, claiming the Player of the Year award for the last three seasons at Old Trafford.
And Barcelona believe they’ll be able to prise the former Atletico star away from Carrington next summer if Jose Mourinho’s side miss out on Champions League qualification for a second consecutive season – they’re currently sixth in the Premier League table, six points off a spot in the top four.
At that point, De Gea’s United contract will have entered its final two years, which will put the club under more pressure to sell the 18-cap glovesman, and Real Madrid will be serving the second window of their aforementioned transfer ban.
Barcelona are ready to take advantage of those favourable circumstances and are open to setting a new world-record transfer fee for a goalkeeper. Juventus legend Gigi Buffon is currently the most expensive ‘keeper of all time at £33million.
