da fazobetai: Celtic head of recruitment Lee Congerton is once again the subject of interest from Brendan Rodgers and Leicester City.
What’s the story?
Well, according to The Scottish Sun Leicester are still on the hunt for a new head of recruitment and Congerton is on the list of candidates.
Congerton worked with Rodgers at both Chelsea and Celtic, and The Telegraph reported recently that the pair were considering another reunion.
Rodgers remains tight-lipped over the hunt, but the Northern Irishman could actually do Celtic a huge favour.
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…
Thanks Brendan!
Fans were angered by Rodgers’ departure in the middle of a season, especially a season in which the historic treble treble is on the line, but his departure could well turn out to be a blessing in disguise if he takes Congerton with him.
The transfer guru has signed players like Kundai Benyu, Marvin Compper, Charly Musonda, Jack Hendry and Youssouf Mulumbu, none of which have had any impact at the club whatsoever.
His scattergun approach in the market, seemingly targeting any young player with a glimpse of potential, has left the Bhoys with an unbalanced squad needing a summer revamp, and the interest in Bahlul Mustafazada suggests that strategy isn’t going to change so long as Congerton is at the helm.
If Rodgers gets what he wants though, the Bhoys can appoint a new recruitment head simultaneously with a new manager. Things can then move forward under a clear, unified vision, rather than the jumbled mess inherited by Neil Lennon.
It would be be a huge favour to Lennon or whoever replaces the interim boss, thanks Brendan!
