The Frenchman arrived from German side Eintracht Frankfurt in a club-record deal of £45m earlier this summer, and showed the Hammers faithful an early sign of what he has to offer.
Leading the line on his top-flight debut, Haller was one of the bright sparks of what otherwise was a rather forgettable afternoon for West Ham.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side slumped to a disappointing 5-0 defeat at home, but Haller’s hold-up play and touch certainly represented a silver lining.
Indeed, after seeing their record signing deliver a fine early impression, Irons fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the forward.

Many hailed his close control and ability to hold up the ball for his teammates, and praised his work ethic during the game.
Despite conceding much of the possession to the visitors, West Ham supporters praised Haller’s defensive contributions in the match and felt there is a lot more to come.
